Where is YAKA SKYE Drone Academy located?
At the YAKA SKYE campus — Vinayaka Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road), Paiyanoor, Chennai 603104, Tamil Nadu — on the OMR/ECR corridor, accessible from Chennai city, Chengalpattu and Mahabalipuram.
Do I need a licence to fly drones commercially in India?
Yes. Under the Drone Rules 2021, commercial operation of most drone categories requires a Remote Pilot Certificate obtained through DGCA-authorised training. Our programmes are built on that framework.
What is the difference between VLOS and BVLOS training?
VLOS (Visual Line of Sight) covers operations where you keep the drone in direct view — the entry certification. BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) is advanced training for long-range missions beyond direct view — the future of delivery, survey and inspection work.
What are the course fees at YAKA SKYE?
Indicative ranges: Cat-1 VLOS ₹25,000–₹45,000 (5 days); Cat-2 BVLOS ₹45,000–₹70,000 (7–10 days); Drone MRO ₹20,000–₹40,000 (7–10 days); Instructor ₹70,000–₹1,00,000 (10–14 days). Final fees are announced at enrolment.
Who can join, and what is the eligibility?
Students, farmers, engineers, photographers, working professionals and entrepreneurs. Basic DGCA eligibility: minimum 18 years of age and Class 10 pass. No prior flying experience needed.
What careers can drone training lead to?
Certified pilots work in agriculture spraying, land survey and GIS mapping, cinematography, infrastructure inspection, disaster response and logistics — or launch their own drone services company.
Does the academy provide drones, or should I bring my own?
Training aircraft, simulators and equipment are provided by the academy for all courses. You only need to bring your enthusiasm and documents.
